The Winner Is: A Tie??? January 5, 2012

Collectors clearly love Jabba’s aliens, since our top two finalists are both classic creatures from the Casa de Hutt. Surprisingly, though, we actually have a tie for first place, with both Oola and Tessek each taking 18 votes. While aliens are always popular, the skiff guard Taym Dren-garen made an impressive third-place showing with 11 votes, despite being a human character.

Brian and I never really planned for what to do in the event of a tie, so we have improvised. After flipping a coin, we determined that Tessek is the winner!

Brian will start working on sculpting, with the goal of having these available as a free giveaway at Celebration VI. By the time we get around to Return of the Jedi characters again, I’m sure Oola will make another strong showing!

I would have been excited to have either of those great aliens, but I have to admit I’m ecstatic about Tessek being the winner.

So I presume there won’t be a giveaway like with the other two figures; only at the convention?

We havent discussed it yet, but yes, the only way to get the figure will be to physically go to the convention. But not only that: this year, to make it harder, Jad will actually be driving around outside the convention in an unmarked vehicle. If you can spot his GALOOB license plate and finally catch up to him after a chase through Orlando, then Congrats! You will be given a riddle which will lead you to a hidden cache where you can claim your figurine. Be sure to bring your scuba gear! They don’t call him Squidhead for nothing!

Ok I’ve been advised thats not at all how it will work. Sorry. Again, we have to discuss it but there will most likely be a 2 phased giveaway: the convention, and then for you regulars we might do another signup window.
